Volkswagen Commercials new product offensive

  • Face-lifted Amarok arrives in mid-2016
  • All-new Crafter will debut at the IAA Hanover in September
  • Crafter to be built at all-new Polish factory

AFTER the launches of the all-new Caddy and Transporter, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ product offensive continues unabated with announcements of the face-lifted Amarok and new Crafter.

The middle of 2016 will see the reveal of the face-lifted Amarok, ahead of a UK launch by the end of this year. We were assured by UK brand director Carl zu Dohna that “it will retain its position in an increasingly crowded pick-up market, as a highly-capable pick-up and off-roader.”

Next up is the all-new Crafter, which we were told is a hugely important model for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and will be built in the new Volkswagen factory in Września, Poland, the site of which that Business Vans visited a year ago.

Apparently, it will allow them to compete in new sectors of the large commercial vehicle market that they haven’t been able to with the current model.

Expect the all-new Crafter to debut at the IAA in Hanover in September, with the UK launch scheduled for 2017.
