Ford Transit Connect, winner of Small Van of the Year

Ford Transit Connect: ACFO award for Small Van of the Year. The bigger Transit took the Large Van of the Year title

Story: RALPH MORTON

IF you want the best business vans on the market, then head for your nearest Ford dealer.

That’s because Ford took a clean sweep of the van awards at the annual ACFO Awards, which are voted on by members of ACFO – the Association of Car Fleet Operators – the fleet managers who have first hand experience of operating some of the largest van fleets in the UK.

So if they don’t know what makes a good business van, who does?

ACFO voted the Ford Transit Connect as Small Van of the Year, for vans up to 2225kg GVW at the annual ACFO awards last night (31 October).

Making it two for Ford, the Transit won the Large Van of the Year award, for commercial vehicles between 2226kg GVW and 3500kg GVW.

For fleet director Kevin Griffin accepted the awards, telling Business Vans afterwards: “We’re delighted to win these awards, but with the our new van replacement programme forging ahead next year, we’re going to make sure we stay at the top of the van market.”

Ford has recently launched an all-new one-tonne Ford Transit Custom and a two tonne Ford Transit, as well as announcing replacement Transit Connect and a new, small Courier van.

ACFO celebrated 40 years at the awards as the premier organisation for fleet operators of company cars and business vans.
