WHOAH! Move over Ranger, here comes something a bit bigger and certainly more brutal: the Raptor.

The Raptor – or Ranger Raptor to be precise – is Ford’s performance version of its successful pick-up in the US, the F-150.

Launched in Thailand, everything about the Ranger Raptor is massive from the aggressive grille to block FORD lettering that sits in the middle of the grille.

Ford says it makes the design ‘unmistakable when emerging from a dust cloud’.

No wonder. The Ranger Raptor stands at an impressive 1873mm tall, 2180mm wide and 5398mm long, with wider front and rear tracks at 1710mm.

Performance comes from a 213PS 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo diesel giving 500Nm of muscle and all delivered through a 10-speed transmission.

Beat your chest Tarzan, this Ranger Raptor will take no prisoners.

Designed to be used off-road, and on, there is no word on the pick-up coming to the UK.

But a Ford spokesperson did say that the Raptor is being made in both left and right-hand drive. And yes, they would rather like it over here…

“It is amazing to enable this level of performance and create a vehicle that can provide off-road enthusiasts such an adrenaline rush,” said Jamal Hameedi, chief engineer, Ford Performance.

“It really is like a motocross bike, snowmobile and an ATV rolled up into a pickup truck – it’s an incredible, awesome experience!”

So c’mon Ford, bring it over and let the UK get the experience!

Note: American import specialist Clive Sutton is importing the Raptor in RHD
