Ford vans May 2016 highlights on SMMT data:

  • Transit Custom and Transit lead CV sales
  • Ford van sales of 9,218 up 19% on May 2015
  • Fiesta Van, Transit Connect, Transit Custom, Transit and Ranger lead their respective segments
  • In the UK top 20 Transit Custom 6th, Transit 20th
  • Ford total vehicle sales 32,935 and a sales share of 14%, 5.6 percentage points ahead of nearest rival

FORD’S market domination kicked up a gear last month with Ford’s May van sales the best in 27 years – up 19% in a market up 1.9% year on year.

Overall it took 14% of the market for cars and commercial vehicles, 5.6% clear of its nearest rival, with a total of 32,935 vehicles sold.

With Transit Custom and Transit leading the CV sales and Fiesta once again best overall and Transit Custom sixth best seller overall, Ford’s May van sales at 9,218 were the highest since 1989, according to the official sales figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT):

Ford Transit Custom is the UK CV top seller

The official figures released by the SMMT today show that total car sales in May were up 2.5% to 203,585 units, compared with May 2015. Ford car sales were 23,740, 7,440 registrations ahead of its nearest rival. The Ford Fiesta remains the UK’s best-seller with 8,236 registrations in May, 2,507 sales and 1.3 percentage points of share ahead of its nearest rival.

UK light commercial vehicle sales in May were up 1.9% at 28,480 compared with May 2015.  Ford light and medium commercials sales were 9,218, up from 7,745 compared with May 2015, corresponding to a 19.0% increase compared with May 2015.
