Fiat Doblos go to work in Glasgow

The Doblo Work Ups will be used by Glasgow City Council for a wide range of tasks around the city

GLASGOW City Council has signed up 31 new Fiat Doblo Work Ups for a broad range of duties in the city’s parks, for homecare, cleaning, and roads and winter maintenance.

The Work Ups join Glasgow’s existing fleet of 200-plus Fiat Professional LCVs.

The Work Up is a dropside vehicle with a 2.30m long and 1.82m wide load box offering 4cu m of load space, accommodating a payload of up to 1000kg.

Despite the load capacity, Fiat says the Doblo Work Up is compact making it easy to use in urban areas.

The Doblos are powered by 1.3 MultiJet II 16v diesels, returning 55.4mpg and CO2 emissions of 133g/km.

Options fitted include remote central locking, Blue&Me, steering wheel controls, Start&Stop and ESP.

The Doblo Work Up Jet II 16v Diesel costs £16,115 (basic), and the 1.6 MultiJet 16v Diesel is £17,015 (basic).

Glasgow City Council Transport manager Emil Laiolo told Business Vans: “During the selection process we were looking for business vans that provided high quality and the best possible value, and Fiat Professional’s models met our requirements perfectly.

“Reliability, competitive whole-life costs and reducing our environmental footprint were also big considerations in our final choice,” he said.
