TAKING A test drive can tell you a lot about a van you might be considering for your business, but how much better would it be if the demonstrator was kitted out to suit your particular needs?
The vans are aimed particularly at service sector businesses such as plumbers and engineers
Well, if you’re thinking about a Mercedes-Benz Citan, Vito or Sprinter and you’re in the East Midlands, then the Intercounty Truck & Van dealership has demonstrators it describes as ‘truly fit for purpose’.
The vans are aimed particularly at service sector businesses such as plumbers and engineers, which end to use their vehicles as mobile workshops.
Intercounty has joined forces with racking manufacturer Bott and telematics specialist Masternaut to equip each demonstrator with space-efficient racking and telematics systems to allow potential customers to gather an accurate impression of the van’s performance in their own working environment.
Intercounty Truck & Van dealer principal Steve Shakespeare told Business Vans: “It makes no sense when you’re trying to win orders from service providers to give them an empty van for trial. What are they to do with it?
“They can’t put it to work to see how it performs in a real life situation, because it’s not properly kitted out to carry their tools and equipment. Nor do they have the very latest in telematics solutions to measure the van’s fuel economy, monitor the driver’s style and behaviour, or use mapping software to aid their efficiency.”
Intercounty has three demonstrators that are proving particularly popular:
- A Citan 109 CDI Long fitted with Bott’s Modulo racking, which can be configured and ordered online, and home-fitted in just 60 minutes;
- A Vito 113 CDI Long, with ‘robust and affordable’ Uno racking;
- A new model Sprinter 313 CDI Long, with lightweight, reinforced racking from Bott’s Vario range.
The three vans are all equipped with Masternaut telematics systems that offer ‘eco-drive’ driver-awareness software, said to improve vehicle economy by 10-15%; ‘live’ dynamic map-based tools for business reporting, and Tax & Expense Manager, a system claimed to be “the most accurate mileage collection technology on the market”.
