MOBILE aftercare company Bevan Group and bodywork specialists A&R Vehicle Services will share a stand at this year’s CV Show.

The two Black Country businesses have been connected since Bevan acquired a stake in A&R last summer.
Bevan Group’s mobile aftercare service covers truck and van bodies, as well as ancillary equipment – particularly tail-lifts. A&R Vehicle Services is one of the area’s best-known bodyshops.
Bevan Group, which is based in Halesowen, is best known as a builder of dry freight curtainside and box bodies, however the company also deals with around 2400 vehicles on a repair-and-maintenance contract or pay-as-you-go basis.
Compared with a year ago, this activity has increased by 45% and continues to rise.
This growth was given extra impetus last October, when tail-lift manufacturer DEL gave Bevan a key role in its own, rationalised service network.
Aftercare Manager Simon Dryburgh told Business Vans that other factors have also contributed: “Rather than recovering the vehicle to a workshop, our technicians are able to fix the vast majority of problems either at the roadside or at the customer’s own premises,” he said.
He said the loss of a tail-lift or a jammed roller shutter door effectively rendered a vehicle useless. And since many vehicles were purpose-built for the job, operators couldn’t simply hire a replacement.
“Our service therefore represents a saving in all-important downtime, as well as minimising hassle and expense for customers,” he said.
Bevan operates a 24-hour breakdown line. It has a team of 28 mobile technicians on call round-the-clock which that 86% of breakdown scenes within 90 minutes of being ‘scrambled’, according to the company.
A&R Vehicle Services, meanwhile, undertakes major accident repairs and refurbishment programmes covering everything from a single vehicle to a large fleet.
As well as three commercial re-spray ovens, A&R operates a fully recycled shot blast facility, specialist chassis straightening equipment and a hydro test centre.
A&R managing director George Simpson said: “The partnership with Bevan represents a big adventure for our companies, and we’re both winning new orders for the extended range of services we’re now able to offer our respective customer bases.”
