You could drive from Portsmouth to Prague on a tankful of diesel in new VW Transporter BlueMotion
OUR Business Van of the Year, the VW Transporter BlueMotion, just got even better.
The latest BlueMotion is the most fuel-efficient model Volkswagen has ever built, offering a class-leading 48.7mpg and CO2 emissions down to 153g/km.
The improved efficiency has been achieved by modifying the engine management system and transmission in addition to using low rolling resistance tyres, start/stop and battery regeneration systems as well as cruise control.
Every aspect of the van’s specification has been optimised to reduce weight and improve aerodynamics, says Volkswagen.
The improved mileage and reduced emissions represent a 3.9mpg increase and a 13g/km reduction compared with the previous BlueMotion model. In theory, one tank of fuel could give the Transporter a range of 850 miles – you could drive from Portsmouth to Prague on that!
The Transporter BlueMotion, which is available only as a panel van, is powered by a 114hp 2.0-litre TDI engine with common-rail direct injection, which develops 250Nm of torque.
Ex-VAT prices start at £19,245.
