Direct rivals to the Ford Transit Courier include the Citreon Nemo, Fiat Fiorino and Peugeot Bipper, as well as the Nissan NV200 and new Mercedes Citan compact van.

However, buyers may well be tempted down from small trades vans – such as the Citroen Berlingo – by the Courier’s ability and functionality.

“We’re seeing many buyers come to us to talk about downsizing,” confirmed Mark. “Vans often run around half empty without utilising all their carrying capacity – this results in higher ongoing costs to the business. So for buyers wanting better economy and lower running costs, the Transit Courier is the perfect answer.”

The new Ford Transit Courier can carry a maximum payload of 660kg and carry a standard Euro pallet. The load length is 1.62m but the optional folding mesh bulkhead and fold-dive passenger seat can extend this to 2.59m.

At least one expert expects the Courier to be a class leader in residual values too. Read more here.
