THE joint-production Peugeot, Citroen (PSA) and Toyota van trio win five-star crash test ratings in the latest Euro NCAP safety evaluations for the ‘business and family van’.

Euro NCAP was releasing the last set of safety ratings for 2015, which included the five-star Peugeot Traveller and its twins Toyota Proace and Citroen Spacetourer. The vans were tested under the current ‘Heavy Vehicles’ protocol.

All got 87% for adult occupant protection, 91% for child occupant, 64% for pedestrian safety and 78% for safety assist, covering such features as electronic stability program and seatbelt reminders.

From 2016 onwards, van testing will be aligned to the passenger car testing, sharing essentially identical test protocols and taking into account such features as autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and pedestrian detection.

For details of the launch announcement specifications of the new vans-  to go on sale in van, shuttle, combi and family versions -in the first half of 2016, see Citroen, Peugeot and Toyota link for new vans.
