HOW would you fancy turning up for your next job in this one-off replica of a 1994 Cosworth Transit?
It’s powered by a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 Ford Cosworth engine producing 295hp and giving a top speed of 150mph.
Ford’s SuperVan 3 is by far the craziest vehicle I have ever driven
Former Ford Team Mondeo driver Anthony Reid wowed the crowds when he gunned the van up the Goodwood hillclimb at last weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The spectacular SuperVan 3 is a replica of a Transit developed more than 20 years ago and carries on from the SuperVan 2, which had a Transit-like body hiding a mid-engined Ford C100 racing chassis.
SuperVan 2 was built in 1984 and powered by a Ford Cosworth DFL engine, a long-stroke endurance version of the Ford DFV F1 power unit.
Anthony Reid told Business Vans: “Over the past 20 years of racing cars, Ford’s SuperVan 3 is by far the craziest vehicle I have ever driven. It’s ludicrously loud, incredibly quick and received masses of attention from the Goodwood crowd.”
Before you get any ideas though, SuperVan 3 might look like a load-carrying vehicle, but there’s no room for a payload, as the engine and transmission are mounted behind the cabin.
The van’s all-independent suspension and huge racing tyres are entirely race car specification, although the driving position is that of an ordinary business van.
