HOW’s this for luck? Alan Bryan, boss of Manchester-based cleaning machine supplier AMB Services, has won the use of a new Mercedes Citan free for six months.
I was impressed by how smooth and quiet it was on the drive home after collecting it.
He bagged the prize after entering a free draw run by his local Mercedes-Benz dealer Enza to mark the launch of the new model.
His company, which supplies pressure-washing equipment, already runs a Mercedes-Benz Vito. Mr Bryan said: “The Citan looks like an excellent vehicle and very well suited to smaller deliveries at locations where access can be very tight.
“I’m really looking forward to putting it to work and seeing how well it performs. My first impressions are certainly positive – I was particularly impressed by how smooth and quiet it was on the drive home after collecting it.”
The Citan range, which marks the entry of Mercedes-Benz into the small van market, is powered by a fuel-efficient diesel engine available with a choice of 75hp, 90hp and 110hp power outputs. A 114hp petrol unit is also offered.
There are three panel van versions in three lengths – Compact, Long and Extra-long.
The Traveliner model, based on the Long wheelbase variant, is equipped with a folding rear bench seat and can carry driver and up to four passengers.
The Dualiner version comes with the same folding rear bench seat and, based on the Extra-long format, also offers a practical cargo space.
AMB Services sells, services and hires industrial pressure washers. It uses its vans to collect machines from importers and deliver to customers’ premises within a 50-mile radius of its own base in Irlam, Greater Manchester.
