Spencer Group, one of the UK’s largest privately owned engineering businesses that provides pioneering solutions across the transport and infrastructure industries, has appointed Allstar as its fuel card partner.

The company uses over 600,000 litres of fuel per year and operate a mixed vehicle fleet including 130 company cars, 40 commercial vehicles, two HGVs and 89 grey fleet vehicles.

Caroline Johnson, Head of Resources for Spencer Group, commented: “We reviewed all the fuel card suppliers out there.  This included trialling a two-card solution for our grey fleet, which wasn’t favoured by our drivers, along with testing more of a fuel expenses type solution.  Whilst this initially looked a good fit for our business, it didn’t work for us, mainly because it allowed our drivers to purchase anything from the garage forecourt, making it susceptible to misuse.

“What we needed was a traditional fuel card supplier,” continued Caroline.  “It was also vital we had a single supplier.  The Allstar fuel card came out top of the tender process for a number of reasons.  Not only does Allstar provide the largest and most convenient fuel network in the UK, but they also demonstrated that they could save us costly administration time, with all fuel transactions sent to us on one HMRC approved invoice.
