PICK-UPS are fairly eye-catching at the best of times. But here’s an opportunity to move up a level – and show your darker side.

There’s a new Volkswagen Amarok in an exclusive Dark Label special edition model. It will be priced from £33,650 (basic RRP).

Volkswagen says it is one of the most luxurious variants of its award-winning pick-up.

Ever.

The new Amarok Dark Label is based on the range-topping Amarok Highline. Standard items, majoring on, errr…black… include:

  • 18” Rawson alloy wheels
  • matt black mirror housings
  • black door handles
  • black rear bumper
  • exclusive Carbon Steel grey metallic paint
  • side bars finished in matching Carbon Steel grey metallic paint
  • and a rear styling bar finished in matt black.

Optional colours are Deep Black pearl or matt Indium Grey – in case black isn’t quite your thing.

It’s not just the outside that gets the special treatment. As you’d expect.

Open the Amarok’s door and you’ll find seat trim covers finished in Alcantara, black headlining and vent bezels trimmed in chrome silk gloss. Both front seats have manual lumbar adjustment, while the footwells have unique Dark Label floor mats.

For infotainment there is VW’s Discover Media and 6.33” touchscreen fitted as standard, along with Voice Enhancer and Guide & Inform.

Other technology fitted as standard to the Amarok Dark Label includes rain-sensing windscreen wipers, automatic headlight control with coming home and leaving function, and power adjustable, heated and folding door mirrors.

But it’s not just looks over function. The Amarok Dark Label is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel engine with 500 Nm of torque, an eight-speed auto and permanent 4MOTION four-wheel drive.

Just don’t approach in a dark mood…
