Transit leads Ford’s top UK CV sales performance

New Transit Custom is helping boost Ford’s dominance of the CV sector

THE Transit continues to be Britain’s favourite van, according to latest SMMT sales figures.

And the company’s CV sales increased by more than 25% in April compared with April 2012.

The Transit tops every CV segment in which it competes. Its share of the one-tonne sector has also been boosted with the introduction of the Transit Custom and Tourneo Custom.

Ford’s medium commercial sales, which are headed by the Transit, rose from 3096 to 5013 and its share of the sector increased from 27% in April 2012 to 32.2% this year.

The Fiesta van also leads in its segment, taking 60.8% of the market for the year to date (to the end of April).

In total, Ford’s CV sales in April increased from 3822 to 5900, compared with April last year, and its market share rose from 18.5% to 22.8%.
