NEW van sales are rapidly outpacing those of new cars, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
While car sales in November rose 8%, van registrations soared over 17% up on the same time last year – so move over cars, the van boys are coming!
LCV business is leading the recovery in the UK market and contrasts with a massive 49.6% drop in heavy truck business in the wake of new Type Approval legislation which had brought forward plating into the October period.
Van sales reached 26,516 vehicles in November and they almost reached 300,000 in eleven months, an 18% rise.
“Surging demand for vans continued in November amid buoyant consumer confidence and a rise in home deliveries,” said Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive.
