IT might come as a surprise but not all vans need to be big. Like the Vauxhall Corsavan for example.

It can carry up to a 571kg payload in a 0.92 cubic metre load space. It can also tow up to an additional 1250kg. It is, in van terms, tiny but that doesn’t make it any less brilliant. To borrow a line from Vauxhall, it looks like David and performs like Goliath.

The Corsavan will even return around 85mpg if you choose the 1.3 diesel with start/stop technology.

Not everyone who drives a van needs it to be big. If you are one of those people then the Vauxhall Corsavan is well worth considering.

If you’re running a small business or SME that relies on short distance, light load trips why wouldn’t you? You won’t be moving much in the way of furniture – maybe the occasional occasional table – but if that’s not what you do then it really doesn’t matter.

As well as a reasonable load space the Corsavan also offers pretty decent specification.

The Vauxhall Corsavan is available in two trim levels, standard and Sportive. There’s a choice of colours to suit your branding. Three engines ranging from a 70PS 1.2 petrol to a 95PS 1.3 diesel with emissions that start at 87g/km and rise to 126g/km. You can choose an automatic or a manual gearbox. You can configure the Corsavan to suit your own requirements.

You can get a front view camera incorporating traffic sign recognition and lane assist technology. Rear parking sensors and rear view camera. City mode that lightens the steering to make parking and low speed manoeuvring through traffic a bit less tiresome.

You could even specify heated seats and steering wheel, and Vauxhall’s ThermaTec heated windscreen to save scraping on winter mornings. There is also an Intellilink system to connect smartphones to the infotainment system and keep in touch safely at all times. That’s on top of the Bluetooth DAB radio.

It may be small but in many respects the Vauxhall Corsavan is perfectly formed. It’s not going to be suitable for a lot of trades and businesses but if you only need a small van there are worse ways to spend £12,700.

We didn’t vote it “Best Small Delivery Van” in the 2017 Business Van Awards for nothing.
