IF you been considering an all-new VW Crafter for your business but could do with a bit more load capacity, you’ll be pleased to hear that Volkswagen has added a Luton-bodied model to its Engineered-to-Go line-up.
The Crafter Luton range is available in long wheelbase form and powered by Volkswagen’s 2.0-litre TDI engine offering outputs of either 136hp or 163hp.
With a load volume of 17cu m, and an internal roof height of 2120mm the Luton-bodied model offers 1.5cu m and 180mm more load height than the standard long-wheelbase model.
The Luton crafter has been designed and developed in partnership with British bodybuilder Ingimex. The bodies are constructed using GRP sides and bulkhead and a dip-painted and powder-coated bolted frame, and are readily modified for the addition of a tail-lift. There’s a reinforced bottom plank to protect against movement of unsecured loads.
Other features of the load area include a four-tier load restraint system, a high-strength shutter and rear foot step.
The VW Crafter Luton conversion complies with the latest European standards, and comes with a three-year warranty that also covers any factory-fitted add-ons.
The Luton range is priced at £32,470 for the CR35 2.0 TDI 136hp model and £33,380 (basic ex-VAT) for the CR35 2.0 TDI 163hp model but you can get one from just £299 a month on contract hire or on finance lease terms with £1000 initial rental contribution with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle Finance.
